My new favourite sport
12th July 2017
As I sit down to write this, the sun is shining outside, Andy Murray is on the TV playing against Sam Querrey in his Quarter Final match and on Twitter, I’m following the ‘Day of Formula 1 Live London’ with the Silverstone Grand Prix approaching this weekend – I’m thinking next year I HAVE to go to that!
Summer really is the most fabulous time and we seem to be alive with Sports. Whether it be the Lions Tour, the Anniversary Games coming up or currently, Wimbledon, there’s something to really bring everyone together and get behind an individual or a National Side.
I, also, have been heavily involved in a Sport that is also becoming a fast favourite…
Over the month of July, the Elite Men’s Circuit Series is being decided over six rounds of racing across six different towns in the Country. I have been lucky enough to be on the Series and presenting shows for Eurosport, to bring all the action and latest news from the races and without a doubt, it is one of the best events I have ever had the pleasure of working on.
We started on an incredibly wet and windy night in Otley, where the racing was fast and furious! The speed these men are racing at, through all conditions is incredible – they have absolutely no fear! We then moved on to Skipton and Abervagenny in Wales, with three rounds remaining.
As the races go on, you feel more and more like a little touring family as the team. Riders and soigneurs get to know your face, welcome you with open arms, the crowds are lining the streets with such a positive manner with an attitude of excitement. It’s a circuit race that tends to last about an hour, and at the minute the JLT Condor team lead by John Herety are dominating the field.
Last year’s overall winner Sebastian Mora of Rayleigh GAC has been hit with a couple of problems and in the last race got caught up in a crash, which ended his hopes of winning the round. With three rounds remaining, the title for Series winner is still very much up for grabs, but some big rides are needed from other teams!
We next move to Stockton on Friday and I think I’ll be actually incredibly sad when this one is over! It has definitely given me a new found love for the sport of cycling and respect to these guys, their fitness levels are through the roof!
Alongside this I have still been presenting Heart Breakfast in Kent, I had the pleasure of hosting the Bexley Business Awards…Oh and flew to America to be bridesmaid for my best friend at her wedding, all contributing to a super busy time for me the last few weeks!
You can catch the rest of the Circuit series on Eurosport at these times below…
