It’s been just over a week since one of the greatest days I’ve experienced, and probably will ever experience as a football fan.

Easter Monday, April 17th, 2017, 6:55pm – Brighton and Hove Albion are officially promoted to the Premier League. Scenes!

I covered the last few seasons of the Seagulls on my local radio station, Juice 107.2, so I’ve watched and listened to every single match for the past few years. To reach a point now where we are in the Premier League, after 34 years away from the top flight, is mind blowing!

Needless to say, I was one of the few thousand that invaded the pitch for the celebrations at the final whistle – let’s face it, this kind of thing only happens once in a blue moon! And the party continued until the late hours, with everyone in the city, old and young alike, celebrating something phenomenal that our football club, our Seagulls, have achieved. Incredible. Emotional. And all ending with a classy kebab.

Newcastle have now deservedly confirmed their return to the Premier League with us, so it’s time for us to continue our celebrations, and confirm ourselves as champions of the Championship on Saturday!

Either way, Premier League football is ours, and you can tell just how excited I am! As a Brighton girl through and through, it was a day I’ll never forget. We’ve had an incredible season, the players have worked ridiculously hard. Our manager Chris Hughton has turned things around at our club, and you could both see and feel the joy, relief, excitement, and pure happiness on every single person’s face in The Amex stadium, and across the city that day. That’s why I love football. And this is why we are football fans. For the lows, the highs, and the togetherness it all brings.

What a season, what a week, it’s only just about sinking in…
