“When you feel good you perform better!” Jessica Ennis-Hill

Today marks 100 days to the Olympic Games and no one feels this more than our TEAMGB athletes.

Today I hosted the official launch of the Adidas TEAMGB and ParalympicGB kit for this summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games. It was an absolute honour to reveal the athletes in their new kit and interview the team.

With the Olympics due to start in just over three months it still seems like 2012 has only just passed, but alas it’s been four years and summer is round the corner. How time flies!

Interestingly when I asked champion triathlete Alistair Brownlee how he feels about 100 days to go he said, “Well it’s still rather a long time!” – I guess in an athlete’s world it is.

So much can change in that time and there are so many other competitions our TeamGB athletes are competing in before the Olympic Games themselves. But this is where the major countdown begins and this was also the chosen day to launch the official Adidas TEAMGB and PARALYMPICGB kit.

Adidas TEAMGB Creative Director Stella McCartney has excelled herself, creating a bold and beautiful design that features the Union Jack prominently and a new especially commissioned coat of arms.

Three lions holding Olympic torches on a stunning crest helps bond our athletes to their heritage and each other.

The kit isn’t just beautiful; it’s pretty clever too. In my interview with Olympic diver Tom Daley he explained how despite his swim shorts being so small, the performance technology in the design is still pivotal to him, and due to the advanced tech his kit is currently 10% lighter than in the 2012 kit. Small benefits make a big difference to athletes at this level.

Adidas’ tech being at the forefront of the design means our athletes have the advantage. Kit weaved with titanium too keep them cool in the South American heat, and footwear with the famous ‘Boost’ technology will help them in their quest for gold.

But one thing stood out for me today. It was something Jessica Ennis-Hill said to me on stage that I believe we can all relate to: “When you feel good you perform better!”

Confidence might just be the edge for TEAMGB in this summer’s competition, and thanks to Adidas and Stella McCartney the athletes look and feel amazing!
