I’m not necessarily known for my blogs; it tends to be along the lines of “Yesterday I went to the cinema. It was great. Here’s a completely unrelated video…” However, I would say the last few weeks I have had slightly more interesting events occur.
Going a few months back, I went to Wimbledon for the 3rd time. The first time I managed to get on centre court and watch Goran Ivanisevic’s last ever professional match, Lleyton Hewitt and a certain Maria Sharapova, who at the time was a rising star in tennis. The last 2 times, I have queued for HOURS to get on to the outside courts. As long as you have things to do, it actually goes by pretty quickly. The matches had yet to start by the time I had been let in. I managed to watch several matches with some other rising stars on the outside courts, sat on Henman Hill/Murray Mountain and obviously enjoyed a Pimms. Unlike last year, which began pouring down from 5pm, this year it only began raining around 7pm, by which time I felt like I had seen enough tennis to warrant the mammoth queuing session.
For me, Wimbledon is a key part of summer.
