SWATH

Sian Welby |

This weekend I was whisked away to the magical Arndel castle on the south coast to interview the cast of Snow White and the Huntsman.

If you’re thinking Disney melodies and chirping birds, think again. This is the classic fairytale on steroids- as actor Chris Hemsworth himself admitted!

Its bursting with action and has a good balance of fantasy and real life, creating a world that is both believable and engaging.

The film isn’t CGI heavy and much of it is filmed in forests and woodland around England and Wales. When asking director Rupert Sanders why, he plainly answered ‘well, because filming all day with a green screen is boring!’

There’s eye candy for guys, with the gorgeous Charlize Theron playing the wicked Queen Ravenna and for the vampire fans out there Snow White is played by the pale skinned beauty herself Kristen Stewart. Both actresses have some kick ass scenes…literally in Kristen’s case, as she admitted in my interview that whilst doing one of her fight scenes she kicked Chris Hemsworth (the Huntsman) in the face…and it made the cut as well, so you can see it for yourself!

The highlight of the film amongst all the darkness is when we meet the seven dwarves. You’ll find yourself doing a double take when you see familiar faces such as Ray Winston, Bob Hoskins and Nick Frost! They may be small, but they have a big impact on the film and provide some real comic relief.

From the poisoned apple to the magic mirror, it’s all there, but what makes this version different?

Charlize nailed it, ‘it’s better!’.

Simples.

Wembley

I had a great time this bank holiday weekend at Wembley, despite it being absolutely freezing and Robbie Savage stealing my rollers! It was of course the FA cup final and ESPN were doing a whole day of coverage, starting at 8am. I did three live broadcasts throughout the day and I took a gamble and stated that I thought it would stay dry for the match…there was a moment when dark clouds loomed in the sky and I thought I was about to do a Michale Fish, but I am pleased to say that from kick off to the whistle I got it right and it didn’t rain! Michael who?! ;-)

Don’t you know who I am?

When I saw this photo on the Daily Mail website it made me laugh…it was taken as I posed on the red carpet at the Ariellia fashion show in London, but what’s so funny about it you ask?

Well there was a group of about 20 photographers, all trying to get my attention so I would look their way, naturally shouting a name would do the trick, and they did….although the name they were shouting wasn’t mine!

So I stood there smiling for what seemed like forever as a gaggle of paps bellowed:

‘KIMBERLY!!!! KIMBERLY!!! THIS WAY KIMBERLY!!! GREAT KIMBERLY!!! HERE KIMBERLY!!!’

There was no way of stopping them, once one of them decided I was Kimberly, the rest followed and like an awkward moment with a long lost friend, I didn’t know when to tell them…I wasn’t ‘Kimberly’ !!

I started laughing towards the end as it became more and more ridiculous and once the furore died down, I decided to tell them that my name was actually Sian, in fear that if the photo was printed with the wrong name it would seal the mistake once and for all and I would be forever known as Kimberly!

I’m not sure who the actual Kimberly was, but it would be very funny if it was this girl-who recently attended a premier and got mistaken for me!

Karma!

Potty Weather!

There’s a very strange relationship between Harry Potter and the weather!

At all bar one of the premiers it has lashed it down with rain and this time after a week of boiling hot weather, as if by magic the skies turned gray and it was bloody freezing as I waited on the red carpet, with bare legs I may add, for the stars of the films to arrive. I only have myself to blame for the lack of thermal underwear as I had been reporting about the horrible change in weather all week. #fail

Saturday was the opening of the Warner Brother’s Studio Tour and to celebrate they invited some of the Harry Potter cast to come along and build some hype. Unfortunately it all went a bit flat, some members of public had arrived at 9am to get their prime autograph spot, but now it was 3pm, people had lost the feeling in their toes and nothing had happened for hours.

Annoyingly we couldn’t actually go inside and do the tour while we were waiting so instead I ran around trying to bring some life back into the souless faces that looked upon me! However what would usuallly be an easy task, became a mission! Everyone was so cold and bored that the first lot of cheers sounded like a herd of zombies who were more excited about eating my brain than seeing Rupert Grint, however after a few goes we finally got them cheering and just in time too as the stars were starting to arrive!

The theme music came on and the energy rose and finally it started feeling a bit exciting! By 5pm I had got some great interviews for US show Reelz and even found out from the actors why some items would be missing from the tour…cough….unofficial souveneers..cough…

Sooo despite the 3 hour wait in a carpark, the frostbite kicking in, my contstant leaky eye and the wind blowing my skirt up in front of a bus of over a hundred people as I was doing my closing link…I think it was a success.
